News from September

Thanks to your kind generosity and support- we reached our goal!

Thanks to your kind generosity and support we were able to purchase the much -needed bed trolleys and children’s cots for False Bay Hospital. These additional beds have eased congestion in the Emergency Casualty and is making admissions to the wards much easier and more efficient.

Teas and Tours

The second tea and tour took place on the 7th August2019, and was enjoyed by all who attended. The tour ended with a visit to the extraordinary Justin Bonello food-garden, which operates from the grounds of the False Bay Hospital.

Please join us every alternative month for a morning tour of the hospital with Dr. Waddington, the Manager of Medical Services, at False Bay Hospital. Dr Waddington gives a presentation on the services offered by the False Bay Hospital and an interesting overview of the state of Public Healthcare in the Western Cape. Tea and biscuits will be served and an opportunity to engage with others and share innovative ideas for the improvement of public healthcare in False Bay. Please contact Jocelyn Freed on 0837082569 or jocelynf@innovationshack.co.za to book a space. The next date is the 16th October at 10am.

The Vintage Clothing Sale Market

Thank you to Ariadne Petousis and Kerry O’Neill for coming up with the wonderful idea to hold a Vintage Clothing Market to raise funds for Children’s Cots for the hospital. It was a wonderful day, despite the rain and the rugby. We raised funds for 1 cot!. Thank you to Ariadne and Kerry for their commitment and dedication to making this a successful and meaningful event!.

Free testing at Longbeach Mall

On the 12th June and 23rd August 2019 Sister Mentor from the False Bay Hospital and Jocelyn from the False Bay Hospital Trust, offered free testing for blood pressure and Sugar. Many people took advantage of this great health offer and were interested to hear more about the work of the FBH Trust. We have decided to run this promotion at Longbeach Mall on a regular basis.

Calling on all Artists- great response

We havehad an overwhelmingly good response to our call for Artists to get involved in beautifying the hospital walls with works of art, keeping in line with the “flower” image.

In addition to this project within the hospital, we are launching an exciting new competition to transform the outside “tower to a flower”. The tower is a notorious landmark on the site of the False Bay Hospital, which has potential to become an aesthetic landmark. Please watch the space for more details about this innovative new art competition.

Upcoming Events

  • Food truck Sunday market next to Justin Bonello food garden- music, entertainment and creative activities for children to be held on the 20h October.
